Following on from final week’s video clip, Formula Hints & Tips, in this week’s clip I’m talking about beginning your child on solids and what to begin with – First Solid Food: Baby Rice. The nutritional needs of your baby will change and milk alone is not going to be sufficient on your child. Commercial, iron-fortified cereals are often the first meals served to infants who aren’t breastfeeding as a result of they want the additional iron, but breastfed infants are rarely anemic as the iron in human milk is nicely-utilized. Gradually increase the thickness and quantity of cereal until your child is getting a total of 4-6 tablespoons of cereal every day. However waiting too long — say until 8 or 9 months — is trickier since, like habits, tastes may be tougher to alter at this point.
